Inside Agora
Why We Started Agora Competitions
Why we built Agora Competitions around transparency, fairness and genuine value, and the principles shaping how we approach every competition.

Agora Competitions started with a simple observation.
There are plenty of places to enter competitions online. We did not want to create another website that simply added more of the same.
We believed there was room for something clearer.
A competition platform where important information is easy to find, customers can understand what they are entering, winners are visible and the experience feels modern from the moment you create an account to the moment a prize is paid.
That became the idea behind Agora Competitions.
We saw room to do things differently#
The competition industry is a busy one.
Customers can choose between hundreds of competitions across dozens of websites, with everything from small cash prizes to cars, holidays and high-value luxury products.
More choice should be a good thing.
But we also felt that some of the information that matters most to customers could be presented much more clearly.
- How many entries are available?
- How many have already been sold?
- How many can one person buy?
- When does the competition close?
- How is the winner selected?
- What happens after somebody wins?
- Where can previous winners and draws be seen?
These should not feel like difficult questions.
They should be part of the experience.
That thinking shaped Agora from the beginning.
Entering a competition should be exciting. Understanding how it works should be simple.
Transparency should be built into the platform#
For us, transparency is not something that belongs in a paragraph hidden at the bottom of a website.
It should be visible throughout the customer journey.
That is why we have focused on building features that make useful information easier to access.
On Agora, competition pages are designed to clearly show:
- the prize
- the entry price
- the closing date
- the number of available entries
- the relevant competition details
We have also built dedicated areas for Winners, Draws and Replays and our Trust Centre.
Each serves a different purpose.
Winners#
Winning should leave a record.
Our Winners area gives customers somewhere to see previous Agora winners rather than relying entirely on temporary social media posts.
As Agora grows, this becomes an ongoing record of prizes being won and fulfilled.
Draws and Replays#
Customers should also be able to look back at completed draws.
Rather than treating a draw as something that happens once and disappears, we want previous results to remain accessible.
Trust Centre#
The Trust Centre brings together information about how Agora operates.
It gives customers somewhere to understand our processes, policies and approach without having to search through multiple areas of the website.
Fairness influenced how we structure competitions#
Fairness can mean different things in the competition industry.
For Agora, one of the areas we think deserves particular attention is the number of entries available.
A competition with 2,000 possible entries is fundamentally different from one with hundreds of thousands of possible entries.
The headline prize might be identical, but the structure around it is not.
That is why entry limits are something we want customers to notice.
We also use limits on how many entries one customer can purchase where applicable.
The aim is not to suggest that one competition format is the only correct way to operate.
It is about making our own format clear.
Customers should be able to look at an Agora competition and understand the size of the entry pool before deciding whether they want to take part.
That information should not require:
- a calculator
- a search through the terms
- guesswork
Genuine value means looking beyond the headline prize#
A large prize can grab attention.
But value is about more than putting the biggest possible number on a graphic.
When we think about value at Agora, we look at the whole competition.
- The entry price matters.
- The number of available entries matters.
- Any instant wins matter.
- The main prize matters.
- The amount one customer can enter matters.
- The overall experience matters.
A lower cost entry with a clearly defined entry pool can offer a very different proposition from a competition with a much larger number of available tickets.
We want customers to be able to assess that proposition for themselves.
Our role is to give them the information to do it.
We wanted the technology to feel modern too#
Agora is not only a competition business.
It is also a technology platform.
That distinction matters to us.
We have approached the website as a product that should continue improving rather than something that was built once and left alone.
That means working on areas such as:
- account creation
- checkout
- customer accounts
- competition information
- winner records
- the overall mobile experience
Some improvements are large.
Others remove a few seconds or a few unnecessary clicks.
Both matter.
The standard we are aiming for is simple: using Agora should feel straightforward.
- If we can make creating an account easier, we should.
- If information can be displayed more clearly, we should change it.
- If customers repeatedly ask for something, we should consider building it.
Does that mean Agora is finished?
No. Agora will continue to change as we learn from customers, run more competitions and understand which parts of the experience can be improved. We would rather keep developing the platform than pretend the first version is the final version.
Trust has to be earned#
Starting a new competition business comes with an obvious challenge.
Nobody owes a new company their trust.
- A logo does not create trust.
- A polished website does not create trust.
- Saying that you are transparent does not automatically make you transparent.
Trust comes from what happens over time.
- running competitions properly
- publishing results
- contacting winners
- fulfilling prizes
- answering questions
- being clear when something changes
Most importantly, it comes from creating a record that customers can inspect for themselves.
That is why areas such as Winners, Draws and the Trust Centre matter more as Agora grows.
Every completed competition adds another piece to that record.
We do not want transparency to stop at the draw#
There is another side to transparency that we think is important.
Talking openly about the company itself.
That is one of the reasons we have created this blog.
Alongside guides explaining how competitions work, we want to publish more information from inside Agora.
That can include:
- how we decide which prizes to offer
- how particular competitions performed
- changes we make to the platform
- features customers have requested
- winner stories
- statistics from completed competitions
- lessons we learn as the business grows
- updates to how Agora operates
Some of that information will be useful before entering a competition.
Some of it will simply give customers a clearer picture of the business they are dealing with.
Both have value.
What we want Agora to become#
Our ambition is bigger than running individual competitions.
We want Agora to become a competition platform people recognise for how it operates.
- A place where the important numbers are clear.
- A place where customers can easily find previous winners.
- A place where draws leave a visible record.
- A place where entry limits are part of the proposition rather than an afterthought.
- A place where the technology keeps improving.
- And, ultimately, a place where customers know what they are entering before they spend anything.
We are still early in that journey.
That is exactly why these principles matter now.
They give us something to measure future decisions against.
When we add a feature, launch a competition or change part of the platform, we can come back to the same questions.
- Does this make Agora more transparent?
- Does this help us operate fairly?
- Does this create genuine value for the customer?
If the answer is yes, we are moving in the right direction.
See how Agora works#
You do not have to take our word for any of this.
Explore the platform, review previous results and see how our processes work for yourself.
