1. Purpose of these rules

These Competition Rules explain how Agora Competitions Ltd competitions work.

They should be read together with:

  • Terms and Conditions.
  • Free Entry Route.
  • Winner Selection and Draw Process.
  • Refunds and Cancellations Policy.
  • Cash Prizes and Site Credit Policy.
  • Winners and Publicity Policy.
  • Privacy Notice.

If the specific competition page contains extra rules, those rules apply to that competition.

2. Competition types

We may operate different types of competitions, including:

3. Information shown on each competition page

Each competition page should show the important conditions before you enter, including where applicable:

  • Name of the competition.
  • Prize description.
  • Number of winners.
  • Whether the draw is guaranteed.
  • Entry price.
  • Total number of available entries.
  • Maximum entries per person.
  • Opening date and time.
  • Closing date and time.
  • Draw date and time.
  • When the draw will take place after the competition closes.
  • Winner selection method.
  • Competition question, if used.
  • Free entry route summary and link.
  • Eligibility restrictions.
  • Cash payment or site credit information.
  • Any instant win, bonus draw or special promotion terms.

You should not enter unless you understand these details.

4. Opening and closing dates

Each competition starts and ends at the dates and times stated on the competition page.

All times are UK time unless stated otherwise.

Entries received after the closing time will not be entered into the draw. This applies to paid entries and postal free entries.

5. Entry routes

A competition may allow:

  • Paid online entry.
  • Postal free entry.
  • Free online entry.
  • Promotional entry.
  • Bonus entry.

The available entry routes will be stated on the competition page.

Where we provide both a paid entry route and a free entry route, each valid entry has the same chance of winning each available prize.

6. Paid online entry

To enter online, follow the checkout process on the website.

An entry is only valid once:

  • You submit the required information.
  • You answer any required competition question correctly, if applicable.
  • Payment is authorised, if payment is required.
  • We accept the entry.

We may reject, void or cancel entries linked to failed payment, payment reversal, suspected fraud, duplicate accounts, technical manipulation, breach of entry limits or breach of these rules.

7. Free entry

Free entry instructions are set out on the Free Entry Route page and may also appear on each competition page.

A postal free entry must be received before the competition closes. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt.

We will not treat bulk postal entries in one envelope as multiple entries unless the competition page expressly allows this.

8. Competition questions

Where a competition question is used:

  • You must answer the question correctly to be entered into the draw unless the competition page states otherwise.
  • The question may be shown before checkout, during checkout or as part of the entry flow.
  • Incorrect, unclear or incomplete answers may be disqualified.
  • We may withhold confirmation of whether postal free entry answers are correct.

We may publish an explanation of the correct answer after the competition has closed.

9. Entry limits

Entry limits are designed to support fairness and prevent abuse.

A competition may include limits per:

  • Person.
  • Account.
  • Household.
  • Email address.
  • Telephone number.
  • Payment card.
  • Postal address.
  • IP address or device, where appropriate for fraud prevention.

Attempting to bypass entry limits may result in disqualification.

10. Ticket numbers and entry confirmation

Where ticket numbers are used, we may allocate them automatically after entry.

You may receive confirmation by:

  • On screen confirmation.
  • Email.
  • Account dashboard.
  • Entry list.

If you do not receive confirmation, contact support before the competition closes. We are not responsible if you fail to contact us about a missing entry before the draw.

11. Entry lists

We may publish an entry list before a draw.

The entry list may include:

  • First name or surname.
  • Ticket number.
  • Partial location.
  • Entry status.

If you believe your entry list details are wrong, contact support as soon as possible and before the draw takes place.

12. Winner selection

Winner selection will follow the process described on the competition page and our Winner Selection and Draw Process page.

The draw may use:

  • A verifiably random computer process.
  • A random number generator.
  • A live draw tool.
  • An independent person or independent supervision.
  • An instant win allocation process.

We may record or publish draw evidence to show that the draw was administered fairly.

13. Draw timing

Unless the competition page states otherwise, we aim to complete each draw and make first contact with the winner within 30 minutes of the competition closing.

A draw may be delayed if:

  • We need to investigate a technical issue.
  • We need to verify entries.
  • We need to resolve a payment issue.
  • We need independent supervision.
  • There is a system outage.
  • There is a postal processing issue.
  • There is another reasonable cause.

If a draw is delayed, we will update the competition page or announce the delay through a reasonable channel.

14. Guaranteed draws

A competition page will state whether a draw is guaranteed.

If a draw is guaranteed, the stated prize will be awarded regardless of the number of paid entries sold, subject to eligibility, verification and these rules.

If a draw is not guaranteed, the competition page must explain what happens if the draw does not sell enough entries or cannot proceed.

15. Instant wins

Where instant wins are available:

  • The competition page will describe the instant win prize pool.
  • Instant win competitions are open to free postal entry.
  • Valid postal entries received before the competition closes will be included in the same instant win allocation process as valid paid entries and will have the same chance of winning.
  • Instant win prizes may be allocated to specific ticket numbers, moments, random events or another fair mechanism.
  • Winners may be told immediately or after verification, depending on the competition setup.
  • We may require identity and eligibility checks before releasing an instant win prize.
  • Unclaimed instant wins may be dealt with as stated on the competition page.

16. Bonus draws and promotional entries

Bonus draws and promotional entries may be subject to extra terms.

Examples include:

  • Free ticket promotions.
  • Referral promotions.
  • Newsletter subscriber draws.
  • Launch promotions.
  • Site credit promotions.
  • Early entry promotions.
  • Social media promotions.

The relevant promotional page or message should explain the key terms, eligibility, entry method, limits, dates and prize details.

17. Winner verification

Before awarding a prize, we may require:

  • Proof of identity.
  • Proof of age.
  • Proof of address.
  • Proof of payment ownership.
  • Proof of bank account ownership for cash prizes.
  • Signed prize acceptance documents.

Unless the competition page states otherwise, the winner must respond and complete any required verification or prize acceptance steps within 14 calendar days of our first notification.

If a winner fails verification, we may disqualify them and select another winner.

18. Alternative winners

We may select an alternative winner if the original winner:

  • Does not respond in time.
  • Refuses the prize.
  • Cannot accept the prize.
  • Fails verification.
  • Breaches these rules.
  • Is found to be ineligible.
  • Provides false or misleading information.

Unless the competition page states otherwise, if the original winner does not respond or complete the required verification or prize acceptance steps within 14 calendar days of our first notification, we may select an alternative winner.

The alternative winner will normally be selected using the same winner selection method as the original draw.

19. Prize restrictions

A prize may be subject to restrictions, including:

  • Age restrictions.
  • Location restrictions.
  • Expiry dates.
  • Site credit usage restrictions.

The winner is responsible for checking and complying with any such restrictions.

20. Errors

If there is an obvious error on a competition page, order confirmation, ticket allocation, entry list, prize description or draw result, we may take reasonable steps to correct it.

Depending on the issue, this may include:

  • Correcting the page.
  • Contacting affected entrants.
  • Voiding affected entries.
  • Refunding affected entries.
  • Repeating a draw.
  • Selecting an alternative winner.
  • Cancelling the competition.

We will act reasonably and aim to preserve fairness.

21. Disqualification

We may disqualify a person if we reasonably believe they have breached these rules or the Terms and Conditions.

Disqualification may apply to one entry, one competition, all current entries or future participation.

22. Complaints about a competition

Complaints should be made under our Complaints Policy.

Include the competition name, your account email, ticket number or order number, and a clear explanation of the issue.
